Mudra Training
is a method of mind/body training that draws inspiration from
meditation master Chögyam
Trungpa Rinpoche's early education in Tibetan monastic dance.
The exercises combine intense physical training with focused sensory awareness
to unlock our inherent freedom and create a radical shift in our understanding
of the mind/body relationship. Mudra Institute is exploring applications
of this work in performing arts, and other fields such as health care
and media. For more information on Mudra Training, click here.

Mudra 1-Day Intensive - Bellingham:
The Science of Imprint
Sunday Sept 28th, 2008, 9am-5pm
Directed by Craig Smith
Some experiences change us. One powerful moment can stamp an “imprint”
which makes us think, feel and act in entirely fresh ways. Even years
later, when we feel stuck, we sometimes recall the sensations of such
a moment, and we smile. It helps us to remember: reality is not so stuck,
even if we think we are.
Drawn from the yogic mind/body practices of tantric Buddhism, Mudra Space
Awareness training uses this imprinting process to touch in with our basic
nature. Vigorous exercises and sensory awareness practices, drawn from
Tibetan Monastic Dance training, allow us to discover inherent space within
our overcrowded minds and hearts, and unlock habitual thoughts, emotions
and actions.
Originally developed as theater training, Mudra Space Awareness was
first taught by meditation master Chögyam Trungpa Rinpoche in the
early 1970s. An original student of Mudra, Craig Smith has been teaching
the practice for over 30 years. He views Mudra Space Awareness as a method
to engage powerfully with our lives and with the world.
